Modest Mouse is an American rock band formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington and currently based in Portland, Oregon. The founding members are lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. Strongly influenced by Pavement, Pixies, XTC, and Talking Heads, the band rehearsed, rearranged, and recorded demos for almost two years before finally signing with small-town indie label K Records and releasing numerous singles.

When Sad Sappy Sucker first saw release in 2001, on the heels of the monumental The Moon & Antarctica, it felt more like a yellowing sketchbook of curiosities bequeathed to diehard fans than a proper album. Nine years later, now on Brock's Glacial Pace label, it still feels that way. It's being reissued at the same time as the 1997 EP The Fruit That Ate Itself, and taken together, you get a pleasantly bracing aerial view of a young band's gradual development. Modest Mouse then moved on to the next project, honing their voice. In the Internet hothouse, improving your way into a larger audience is a more fitful, lurching affair, one that often happens in combustible bursts. For a young, unsteady group like Modest Mouse, being able to kick around the Pacific Northwest while working on their songwriting feels crucial to their development- they had a long way to go from Sad Sappy Sucker to The Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon & Antarctica, and it's hard to imagine they would have gotten there the same way today.

Band Name Modest Mouse. Album Name Sad sappy Sucker. Data de lançamento 01 Abril 2001. Membros têm este álbum1. Remarque: album composé des premiers enregistrements du groupe, inédits avant 2001. 2. Four Fingered Fisherman.

Sad Sappy Sucker is definitely not a starter album and doesn't contain any of these elements. If you're interested in getting a taste of Modest Mouse, this isn't a good choice for the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or even sixth album. No joke! This is a place you go when you've heard all of what Modest Mouse has to offer and want to hear their very RAW-UNDEVELOPED roots. This is where you look when you're looking for the next Modest Mouse album and it doesn't exist (because you own the rest) so you have to give something else a listen

I know the record is pretty lo-fi, but how does this pressing compare to the K Records pressing?
