Various - Singles - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack mp3 album

A compilation of songs mainly for the Seattle Grunge scene for the movie "Singles" released in 1992

Singles is the original soundtrack album to the film Singles, primarily focused on the ascendant Seattle grunge scene of the early 1990s. It also features contributions from Minneapolis's Paul Westerberg (his first solo material after the breakup of The Replacements), Chicago's The Smashing Pumpkins, and past Seattle rockers Jimi Hendrix and The Lovemongers (Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart). It was released on June 30, 1992. The album has been certified two times platinum by the RIAA in the United States.

Nirvana's Nevermind had symbolically knocked Michael Jackson off the top of the album charts at the beginning of the year, and the underground buzz about Seattle bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam was beginning to find its way past circles of indie aficionados and open-minded hard rock fans and into the mainstream

Singles - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Mudhoney, Paul Westerberg, Mike McCready and Chris Cornell in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP 'Poncier' (debuting an early rendition of Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the original soundtrack album.

There’s a natural grace to Cameron Crowe’s Singles. In hindsight, it’s always been a little bizarre seeing the Minneapolis crooner on a soundtrack comprised of ’90s hitmakers, but the singer-songwriter makes sense for two reasons: For starters, it’s long been argued his original outfit, The Replacements, were the true progenitors of alternative rock (Nirvana before Nirvana, essentially).

Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is also a nearly perfect primer on and microcosm of the grunge/alt-rock scene that was then nearing inescapable cultural phenomenon status (so much so that a rom-com was made around it). Indeed, as artists on its roster were going platinum, so too did the soundtrack. Think of it as Alt Rock for Dummies. Much of what’s offered further solidifies the album as the best point of entry into early 90’s rock. Demo and alternate versions of songs from the original release, coupled with the inclusion of obscure and/or defunct bands from the Sub Pop roster (. short-lived grunge acts Truly and Blood Circus), alone makes this a must for fans. Paul Westerberg’s jangle-grunge gem Dyslexic Heart, for example, perhaps the ex-Replacement’s finest solo moment, takes on two different forms.

Furious 7: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Redirected from Furious 7 (soundtrack)). Furious 7: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack to Furious 7. It was released on March 17, 2015, by Atlantic Records. The film had three initial promotional singles released from the soundtrack. The first was "Ride Out", performed by Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale, YG and Rich Homie Quan

Nalmezar
This is a pretty high quality reissue! I do not have an original pressing of this soundtrack but I do have an original pressing of a Mother Love Bone EP and 'Chloe Dance/Crown of Thorns' sounds much better on this reissue. Definitely worth picking this up as the original seems to fetch absurd prices these days.
elektron
What sounds better this or the original album ?
Falya
Nice repress but far away from the original vinyl's sound....
Shalinrad
Music-wise, this is essentially "90s Grunge Greatest Hits" and is perhaps the most iconic soundtrack of the 90s. Not a bad song on here. This pressing sounds great, too. I just wish Chloe Dancer hadn't been stuck as an inner-most track. The bonus CD is a lot more interesting than I thought it'd be as well. My only complaint is the packaging. It's a rather flimsy gatefold and the inside is a really bland design and a bit of a let down visually and legibly.
LadyShlak
The sound quality on this is great but both LP's in the first copy I got were seriously warped. Pretty disappointing for MPO as you can usually expect much better from them. A second copy fixed most of the issues but if you get a copy don't wait to check it.
you secret
Can anyone confirm is the Smashing Pumpkins track is the longer version and not the cut version? The longer version has mostly feedback at the end which I think makes the song more epic and personal.
Gholbirdred
Epic & Long Version. The only way to listen to Drown.
Talrajas
Yes, I can confirm this release contains the longer version of Drown.
Antuiserum
I've ordered 2 copies from Amazon, both warped. Fingers crossed 3rd times a charm.
roternow
if you're a fan of the 90s Seattle Sound and the Movie Singles, this is a no-brainer! A great record and the bonus CD is really so cool. Wished the entire music from the bonus CD was also on Vinyl - short of that - one of my favorites for sure from this year.
porosh
Ditto what walkerev said! Also, sounds good. Would have been better on 180 gram though.
Virtual
mine came with bonus CD and i just found a download card with all of the material.
Questanthr
Yeah, what Ritaville said - my thoughts exactly. Slimy. Very slimy.
Thordira
It sounds very good! But (I m not sure 100%) it sounds like been remastered or something. But i m sure 100% that this reissue does not sound like the original EU 1992 vinyl press.
zzzachibis
Sound quality is very good. But both of the records are a little wavy. The tone moves up and down, but does not effect play. No skipping or skating. Overall a well put together re-issue!!!!
Malann
Differences on sound between the original EU press & this repress??
ME
My US copies, both bought at B&N did come with the corresponding CD. Excellent sound quality, highly recommended.
Dusar
can anyone speak on the sound quality of this pressing?
Lamranilv
Don’t expect to be blown away, but it’s solid. I mean it’s a soundtrack compilation of 90’s grunge. If these songs are available on stand alone releases I’m sure they could sound better (with access to original sources)... most of them aren’t.No issues with the pressing itself. No surface noise, clicks or pops.
Owomed
Excellent sound, highly recommended. Mine did come with the CD.
Defolosk
I ordered two copies, neither have the bonus CD with the 18 additional tracks. There is a sticker on the front that says it is supposed to be in there. I have a feeling none of them have the CD.
Todal
I worked it out with the label and they sent me the missing discs. Apparently there were quite a few shipped where they were missing.
Zavevidi
I got mine in today from Bullmoose and the cd is definitely there.
Fearlesssinger
Mine had the CD in it. Got it from Amazon on Friday.
Scoreboard Bleeding
I got mine in the mail yesterday and it does have the CD in it.
Ballagar
So is this release being pushed back as of lately? When I go to order it on amazon, it says it won't be shipped till Mid June..I am guessing either Chris's death maybe postponed it or pressing issues?
kinder
My preorder arrived today, so maybe it's just out of stock while awaiting a repress.
Mardin
What kind of greedy dirtbag would buy an album for $35 and try to resell it for $150 BEFORE it's even released? That's fair deal, it's only a 500% mark-up -- price gouging at its finest.
Visonima
Mmm, really puts a damper on the joy of collecting.
Cobandis
This is getting a 25th Anniversary re-press/deluxe box. Look out.
Thofyn
Thanks for posting this. I looked and found this: http://consequenceofsound.net/2017/01/singles-soundtrack-to-receive-expanded-reissue-and-vinyl-box-set-for-25th-anniversary/Pre-ordered vinyl from Amazon UK and getting it delivered to the States. Sweet!
HyderCraft
What's pushed the price up for this I wonder?. .
SkroN
Because it is one of the 10 best soundtracks in 1990-2000 decade & it comes from Seattle's heart (except that Smashing Pumpkins song which is great too). I m happy that does not include any Nirvana's song (i love them but they cannot "fit" for this soundtrack). 1000% pure ORIGINAL stuff. 499 euro? Oh yes! It worths~!
adventure time
It's being reissued with a totally different tracklist. Meh. :-/
Iaiastta
From what I have seen the tracklist on the long awaited reissue is the same, but across 2xLPs. There will be an extra cd included with bonus material.
OTANO
How does this particular version differ from the others? Is it an unofficial/bootleg?
Vinainl
I've submitted this. It's not an bootleg/unofficial. It's an original EPIC brazilian pressing.
Nightscar
The (hi)story of 90's rock in USA. One of the best rock compilations/soundtracks. Here are some super songs from Pearl Jam & Mother Love Bone.
Uscavel
**Tracks are excellent but sound leaves a little to be desired.**I would imagine that most people who are interested in this record are already familiar with the songs and the soundtrack in general. Simply put, it's fantastic and is probably the best "grunge"-era compilation of the time. It contains rare b-sides of popular bands like Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains, which are arguably the Godfathers of Grunge. And they are not half-baked b-sides. They are some of the best songs released by those artists. This is one of those cases where the soundtrack is far better than the movie and is a must-have soundtrack for anyone who likes grunge or good alternative rock. Content aside, the big question on everyone's mind is how does this pressing sound? It's way long for an LP and really should have been split between 2 records. So it has some of the problems that you expect, such as low volume, low dynamic range. But how does it sound? It sounds very good, very enjoyable, but you have to tweak the stereo a bit. Turn-up the volume and maybe play with the EQ a bit. I had no problems enjoying this record at all. I'd recommend it 7/10 and it only loses those 3 points for the low range and minimal packaging.
tref
Just got this directly from Korea, the sound quality is outstanding, very dynamic and not at all tinny or overly quiet and most importantly it plays well from edge to edge on both sides, no IGD (inner groove distortion). The Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees tunes sound particularly good. I have heard rumors about Pearl Jam's management being the obstacle against a reissue but in the meantime if you can nab one of these you will be very pleased with this pressing. -Speed
Fenrikasa
Way too long of an album to be on only two sides of vinyl, runs over 30 minutes per side!
interactive man
The reissue is 2 LPs, so that should help out there.
Fearlesshunter
I just got this off ebay and indeed it is only 2 sides of vinyl. They packed 64 minutes of music on there, but it sounds pretty good to me anyway!
Kit
As above. This CD was indeed the soundtrack of 1992 with an all-star lineup from top to bottom of the best Seattle had to offer to the Grunge Massiv. The best tune being the lesser known band Mother Love Bone's Chloe Dancer / Crown Of Thorns. Rest in Peace Andrew Wood. The Lovemonger's cover of the Zepplin tune, The Battle Of Evermore, is also a highlight.
Vrion
Released at the high point of the grunge scene, when it was still fresh and exciting, this was a who's who of the Seattle scene. All the big names - Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney - some history in the form of Mother Love Bone (Stone and Jeff from Pearl Jam's former band), Jimi Hendrix, the former Replacements singer Paul Westerberg and the Heart off-shoot The Lovemongers. There was a slight stretch from Seattle to include the Smashing Pumpkins and a dip into the slightly less commercial side of Seattle with the Screaming Trees. As a soundtrack for one of the main Gen X slacker movies, this was THE compilation of 1992.
