Ron Dante – Anthology. Label: Sunset Blvd Records – SBR-7904.
Produced by Harold Wheeler and Ron Dante. Produced by Harold Wheeler and Ron Dante. Released on Infinity Records.
Disc 2 contains more contemporary efforts from his first solo album "Brings You Up", released in 1970. Six songs from the album include "Let Me Bring You Up" which just missed the Hot 100, "Go Where The Music Takes You" and the album version of "C'mon Girl" which has a string arrangement added for the 7" single version. Anthology by Ron Dante was released in 2016. A fine grouping of many of the singles he has released since the 1960's. Midnight Show, Charmer, and Don't Call It Love.
Anthology gathers up two discs' worth of singles and album tracks that range from teen idol ballads to sweaty disco jams. Of course, "Sugar, Sugar" is included, as is the 1975 disco remake. His 1970 album Brings You Up is well represented, as is his late-'70s disco group Dante's Inferno, whose "Ain't Misbehavin'" is an amazing example of Love Boat disco.
You may not know the name Ron Dante, but if you've ever heard the Archies' "Sugar, Sugar," then you've heard his voice. Anthology gathers up two discs' worth of singles and album tracks that range from teen idol ballads to sweaty disco jams.
