The Basement Tapes is an album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and The Band. It was released on June 26, 1975, by Columbia Records and is Dylan's 16th studio album. The songs featuring Dylan's vocals were recorded in 1967, eight years before the album's release, at Big Pink and other houses in and around Woodstock, New York, where Dylan and The Band lived. Although most of the Dylan songs had appeared on bootleg records, The Basement Tapes marked the songs' first official release.

Basement Tapes is a collection of studio demos from 1980 to 1981 for an intended album that never happened. And while it lacks the polish of production, the material stands up against their released output.

Although the Rubinoos were never one of the better known power pop groups, their inclusion on the Rhino Poptopia! and . CD's showed that they bettered most of their contemporaries, unfortunately, they didn't produce many proper albums. Fortunately, this rarities collection shows that they still had a wealth of great material.

The Rubinoos are an American power pop band that formed in 1970 in Berkeley, California. They are perhaps best known for their singles "I Think We're Alone Now" (1977, a cover of the hit by Tommy James & the Shondells), "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" (1979), and for the theme song to the 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds. Although "I Think We're Alone Now," reaching No. 45 in 1977, has been their only charting hit, the group has a significant enduring cult following among fans of the power-pop genre.
