Soft Cell, Marc Almond. Memorabilia: The Singles. The Very Best of Soft Cell.
This is the discography of Soft Cell, a British synthpop duo consisting of Marc Almond and Dave Ball who rose to prominence in the early 1980s. The duo broke up in 1984 after releasing four albums, but reunited in the early 2000s for a series of live dates and released an album of new material in 2002. The group re-united again in 2018 for a final farewell concert, accompanied by a host of musical and video releases, including a career-spanning box set and brand new single.
The Singles: Keychains & Snowstorms" brings together the seminal duo's finest singles on one glorious package. Hit after hit, classic after classic, the perfect singles collection – "Say Hello Wave Goodbye", the pulsating cover of Frankie Valli's "The Night", "Bedsitter", "Torch", "Down In The Subway", "Tainted Love", "Memorabilia" and many more.
The original and still the best single-disc Soft Cell compilation (at least up through the band's long-awaited reactivation in 2001), The Singles 1981-1985 is just what it says it is, and what a collection it is. Along with other genre- and era-defining compilations such as Depeche Mode's similarly titled singles disc and Visage's best-of, The Singles 1981-1985 captures the sheer luxuriant thrill and shock of England's early-'80s electro-pop boom.
