Rush is the debut studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on March 1, 1974 by the band's own label Moon Records in Canada and by Mercury Records in the United States and internationally. Their first release shows much of the hard rock sound typical of many of the popular rock bands emerging earlier in the decade. Rush were fans of such bands as Led Zeppelin and Cream, and these influences can be heard in most of the songs on the album.

'Check Me Out' is one of my all time faves from the early tech step era. It's got the hip hop samples, those classic steppin' breaks, and such a dark but grooooovy bassline. Better than Killamanjaro IMO. Get yourself a copy!
Gralsa
King of the rollers! The bassline in 'Chek Me Out' is absolutely tearin' (as MC GQ would say!). I first heard this in an L Double/GQ set that was broadcast as part of the 'one in the jungle' shows 96/97 timeframe. That bassline is so dark yet melodic at the same time. Unfortunately I have never heard this one out in the clubs which is a shame because I know it would have dropped.

i heard it a lot out at parties in the states from dj's like karl k who were pushing the techstep sound early on. this track made the rounds during may and june '96
