Career-spanning Bert Jansch collection coming October 18 July, 2018. Just A Simple Soul, the first comprehensive Best Of collection spanning Bert Jansch’s 5-decade-long career, and compiled in collaboration with Bernard Butler, will be released later this year. Presented chronologically over 2 discs, Just A Simple Soul reminds us of Bert’s enduring legacy and his influence across the musical spectrum. As Bernard eloquently puts it: "Bert lived and breathed the sound of the guitar and its endless possibilities for communication, storytelling, conversation, emotional dialogue

Recorded with a portable tape player on a borrowed guitar in the kitchen of his London flat, the impact of Bert Jansch's debut has been somewhat blunted by time, but it was a vastly influential work. His masterful acoustic picking, which blended elements of traditional British folk, blues, and jazz, inspired not just other folk players, but rockers who frequently used acoustic guitars.

From the sumptuous Living in the Shadows box sets from the beginning of the year, through the long-awaited Bert Transcribed - the Bert Jansch songbook, instigated by The Bert Jansch Foundation and published via Musicroom; a thrilling Bert Inspired live show in Edinburgh featuring the combined talents of Jacqui McShee, Bernard Butler, Ben Watt, Steve Tilston, Alasdair Roberts, Karine Polwart and Archie Fisher.
